SURGICAL PATHOLOGY
GENITOURINARY PATHOLOGY

- Biopsy cassettes used for processing of tissue…this translates into diminished risk of losing tissue in a sponge and no sponge artifact to interfere with reading the final slide.
- Tissue is limited to 3 biopsy cores per cassette (easier to embed all tissue in one plane…means that tissue is not lost during cutting and is examined in its entirety by the pathologist).
- Special cut protocol (6 levels on 3 slides) allow for more tissue to be examined.
- Over read of all prostate core biopsies.
- Average turn-around-time for all prostate core biopsies in 2010 was 1.35 days.
- Customized requisitions for use with CoreDishes™, upon request.
- Customized reports which may include predicted probabilities from Johns Hopkins Partin tables, upon request.
- Thumbprints of HGPIN and/or adenocarcinoma, when present.
- Diagnosis and quantitation of HGPIN.
- Quantitation of adenocarcinoma.
- Use of quality immunomarkers to support diagnosis of ASAP, including AMACR, HMWK, p63.
